چکیده

-Template matching is a fundamental technique of pattern recognition. Although this technique is very general, its applicability has been limited because of the difficulty often encountered when fitting templates to natural data. Natural patterns are often distorted, misshapen, stretched in size, fuzzy, rotated, translated, observed at an unusual perspective, etc. Flexible templates (rubber masks) have been devised which, when fitted to natural data, can be used for measurement, data reduction, data smoothing, and classification of highly irregular waveforms and image shapes. These problems had been largely unsolved by existing template matching methods. Specific applications to the analysis of human chromosome images, chromatographic recordings, electrocardiogram waveforms, and electroencephalogram waveforms are illustrated. The rubber-mask technique will probably be usable in a wide variety of scientific applications. The "rubber-mask" technique-II. Pattern storage and recognition

-This paper briefly summarizes much of the work in pattern recognition to date, and relates the rubber mask technique to previous work. A scheme for incorporating flexible-mask methods into a proposed pattern recognition and memory system is presented. A discussion based on some facts and on some conjecture of the human eye/brain system and how it recognizes patterns, possibly by flexible match...

Measurement and Modelling of the Rubber Resilience based on Ultrasonic Non-destructive Testing in Tires

In tire industry, it is very crucial to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of the rubber which is used for production of the tire, to ensure the quality of the final product. Resilience is an important property of a rubber, which cannot be evaluated through direct measurement in production cycle in this industry. Therefore, non-destructive ultrasonic testing, which has been used in man...

Analysis of Face Mask Effect on Speaker Recognition

Wearing a face mask affects the speech production. On top of that, the frequency response and radiation characteristics of the face mask depending on the material and shape of the mask adds to the complexity of analyzing speech under face mask. Our target is to separate the effect of muscle constriction and increased vocal effort in speech produced under face mask from sound transmission and ra...

Enzymatic Digestion Pattern of Varicella Zoster Virus ORF38 and ORF54 in Chickenpox Patients Using RFLP Technique

Background: Varicella zoster virus (VZV) causes chickenpox in children and zoster (zona) in the elderly. Using RFLP-PCR method for detection of VZV specific SNPs ORF38, 54 and 62 could  distinguish the profile of VZV isolates. The aim of this study was to investigate enzymatic digestion pattern of VZV ORF38 and ORF54 in chickenpox patients using RFLP technique. <b...

Limitation of Laryngeal Mask Airway Usage in Open-Neck Procedure

I read the manuscript entitled “Case Report of An Open Neck Procedure Complication Associated with Laryngeal Mask Airway Use” by Subramaniam T et al. This is a valuable manuscript describing iatrogenic complications during level-2 cervical lymph node biopsy, in which the airway is managed with laryngeal mask airway (LMA). During the procedure, the surgeon realized that the mass was actually the...
